Yoga in Schools
We have several options available for implementing
the Stages Yoga Program. Our scope of services
includes yoga for students with various program
options and teacher training, also with various
program options.
Yoga for Students In-School Program
Option A
Stages Yoga would come into the school once or
twice per week, or as often as deemed necessary
by school administrators to conduct physical
education classes incorporating our method of yoga
and/or pilates. The class formats are guided by New
Jersey Core Curriculum of Contents Standard for
Physical Education for motor skill development and
fitness. The classes would be held for the school’s
standard allotted time for physical education as well
as by grade level. Participants would include those
students who have opted to attend the yoga classes
as an alternative to the school’s program. All ages
and abilities are welcome. No special equipment is
needed except for mats which most schools already
have in their gymnasiums. Large mats are fine for
multiple students. There is no need for individual
mats.
Option B:
Stages Yoga would conduct yoga and/or pilates
programs for students as an after-school program
once, twice or three times per week for those
students who do not wish to participate in after-
school sports but desire some type of regular
fitness activity. We would also include a walking
component in the program. With this option, we
also provide nutrition and fitness literature to each
participant. Grade levels can be mixed in this option
as indicated: Grades 1-3; 4-6; 7-8; 9-12. We can
also do Saturday programs at the school if
administrators desire as an alternative to conducting
the programs after school.
Option C:
Stages Yoga is able to provide yoga classes for the
school’s special needs population. Programs will be
tailored to fit the specific requirements of
participants at the school.
Teacher Training
Option A:
Stages Yoga will work with teachers on basic skills
needed to incorporate or initiate yoga class for PE
credit. Our instructors are all certified and will
spend the needed time necessary for teachers to
achieve a comfort level necessary to instruct yoga
to children. Literature will also be provided to
support the practicum. Our instructors are available
for in-service days or for weekend workshops. We
will come to your school and deliver a
comprehensive yoga training program that will
prepare teachers to teach yoga to their respective
grades. We also provide yoga literature that
supports the training and that can be used as a
reference tool in teaching yoga.
Try us out! Our in-service seminars are really fun
and even feature conversational sharing sessions for
you and your group!
Option B:
Stages Yoga will conduct weekly morning,
lunchtime or afternoon yoga and pilates classes
specifically for adults—the staff of the school.
Yoga is often used to relieve stress, encourage
improved body alignment, and restore mobility and
balance. Our instructors can conduct one-hour
classes to meet the school’s needs. We have found
that many teachers, whose schedules start very
early in the day and end quite late, do not have the
time to engage in a regular fitness routine either at
home or at a fitness facility and many welcome an
opportunity to participate in a convenient space in
the school. Usually any classroom can be used with
just some relocation of desks and the teachers and
other staff can enjoy a full hour of beneficial
exercise and stress relief.
COST OF THE PROGRAM
Stages Yoga is committed to the highest quality of
instruction at a very reasonable cost. Stages Yoga is
flexible in coming to an agreement that is fair to
both parties. An important point to stress is that
there is little or no special equipment that needs to
be purchased in order for the program to be
implemented."

I love taking yoga here (with Stages). It's been so
much fun and I love the poses we do. It helps me
with my dancing and I feel calmer afterwards and
really, really healthy!
Mercedes, age 10
Since I began taking yoga and Pilates
classes with Rossanna a couple of years ago,
my posture has improved and I no longer
have neck pain from a previous injury. She
is a positive and enthusiastic instructor who
is very encouraging to all. The students in
Rossanna's classes span a large range of ages
and fitness levels. She is great at adapting
exercises to fit everyone's needs so they can
achieve results safely.

Miss Tiffany is so nice and
really good! We did all these
yoga poses and pretended we
were in a rain forest! I'm
getting really good at yoga.
